What Is The Starting Salary For A HR Professional?

Anyone who just completed their Degree would like to earn a good salary and most times we all have a predetermined amount we are okay with for our first jobs.

However, what most job seekers have in mind and what employers have to offer never go hand in hand; this for various reasons.

For instance, no employer will want to pay you a large sum of money when they don’t even know what you are bringing to the table.

Most employers want to first see what a job seeker can offer the company before they even discuss a salary increase, which explains the 3 or 6 months probation that companies offer new employees.

The period is usually to gauge if you are the right person for the job and if you are promising enough for the company to retain you.

But even when there is already a budget set for every position, employers and recruiters will always want to know how much money you expect in the job. Most times this question is meant to evaluate if you are over ambitious or are practical enough to understand how the job market works.

In this case, if you do not have experience, then the amount you mention to recruiters should not be outrageous. Study the market and do research before you can name a figure.

So, what’s the starting Salary For A HR Professional

Now, before even we get to the actual amount for HR professionals, it is important to note that the pay is different across organizations and industries. So, do not be surprised if you are offered a larger figure than what is mentioned below.

According to Muthoni Ndegwa, a Client Services Manager at Corporate Staffing Services, HR professionals who have recently graduated and probably only have internship experience to their name can expect to earn between KSh 30,000 and 45,000.

“This is the general range that a HR professional without much responsibility can expect to be paid,” says Muthoni.

So the next time you walk into a job interview and are not sure what amount to mention because for one reason or the other you are afraid of ruining your chances, you can mention the above figure.

But also remember that employers want to know why you are worth that amount, so prepare beforehand to sell yourself accordingly.

Also, like mentioned earlier, different organizations pay differently so whenever you have the chance of knowing someone on the inside, always consider asking them first to avoid selling yourself short or ruining your chances.
