Here are 4 important interview preparation tips that you need to know for a second interview

1. Do the same sort of practice and preparation you did last time.

This means that you have to research deeply about the role you are interviewing for, this time it should be easier as you have already gone through the first interview and have an insight of what the employer is looking for. You also need to thoroughly research about the organization and make sure you are very familiar with the company and the job posting.

This is very important for your second interview because the employers expect you to be serious about their offer and know some of the basic information about the company.

2. Dress as well as you did for the first interview

Just because you have been invited for the second interview does not mean that you take it easy and dress down. Plan ahead of time on what to wear it, does not necessarily have to be a suit but something decent and neat.

Gentle men, this is not the time to put on jeans and caps and ladies should go easy on very short and ill fitting clothes that might make them look uncomfortable.

3. Practice on common interview questions and how you’ll answer them.

Do not be shocked if some of the questions that were asked on the previous interview are repeated. So do a research on some of the most common interview questions and practice on how to answers them. These should include questions such as tell me about yourself? Why should we hire you? What are some of your greatest achievements?

Make sure your answers are specific to the job you are interviewing for and aligned to the company’s interests which you already know because you have done a research on the company.

4. The last interview preparation tip is to counter check that you have all the relevant documents.

Make sure that you have all the relevant documents that the employer has asked for which may include a recent pay slip, your appointment letter and if you are not currently working your termination or resignation letter. Also make sure your CV is clean and neat. You might also need to carry extra pairs of the documents just in case there is a panel interview.
