About the Role

Mukutan Conservancy is seeking a Human Resources Manager to be based at the Conservancy in West Laikipia. We are looking for a dynamic, trustworthy, and independent individual who is passionate about conservation and has the ability to both lead and collaborate within a team.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and coordination skills, a proven background in Human Resource Management, and the ability to take initiative in a fast-paced environment.

This role reports to and is supported by the Operations Manager and the Directors of Mukutan Conservancy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of HR policies, procedures, and systems across the conservancy
  • Oversee and validate daily and monthly muster rolls across all departments
  • Manage staff leave planning, off-duty scheduling, and ensure fair, transparent systems are in place
  • Draft, review, and manage contracts and documentation for all staff, including onboarding and offboarding processes
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, including SHA, NSSF, and other employment-related obligations
  • Coordinate staff health screenings and maintain health clearance documentation
  • Maintain and securely update comprehensive personnel files for all staff
  • Serve as the primary point of contact on labour law compliance and internal disciplinary processes
  • Lead the process for staff performance appraisals, promotions, and professional development, in collaboration with management
  • Handle and follow up on insurance claims and staff welfare matters
  • Prepare and submit weekly and monthly HR reports, including recommendations and insights for decision-making
  • Identify and implement strategies for organisational improvement and workforce development
  • Serve as an advisor to leadership on staff well-being, retention strategies, and conflict resolution
  • Carry out other HR functions and strategic initiatives as assigned by management

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent writing and administrative skills
  • Proven administrative and problem-solving abilities
  • Fluent in both English and Kiswahili (written and spoken)
  • Sound knowledge of Kenya’s Employment Act and current labour laws
