Job Purpose

To ensure all ledger accounts as per the trial balance are reconciled and reflect accurate balances.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure accurate and up to date financial transactions in the ledger and monthly reconciliation of trial balance.
• Ensure proper treatment of general ledger transactions as per the chart of accounts and USALI.
• Review and post journals from the finance team and ensure journals passed have adequate support documents for review and approval.
• Prepare financial statements and reports i.e.: monthly P&L and Balance Sheet reports.
• Update ledger accounts based on finance review feedback and respond to queries arising from the reviews as well as deviations from budget.
• Ensure preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations by the 3rd of each month and follow up on reconciling items for clearance in the subsequent months.
• Ensure all prepayments and accruals are managed accurately and are up to date.
• Oversee filing of tax returns as well as other statutory payments to ensure compliance with tax regulations and laws.
• Maintain an asset register, ensure capitalization of assets from WIP as well as ensure effective asset disposal.
• Opening Ledger accounts with consultation Financial Controller and maintaining the relevant ledgers and maintaining the Chart of Accounts.
• Assist departments with the annual budgeting process for the unit
• Ensure effective filing and archiving of documents.
• Facilitate external and internal audits to ensure that all records are availed in a timely manner
• Participate in your annual performance review of staff in the finance department.
