Our client is a continental leadership, training, consultancy and digital solutions institution working with professionals and organisations across Africa. They are looking to hire a Business Development Officers will support the growth of key Strategic Business Units by identifying opportunities, engaging potential clients, following up leads, preparing proposals and converting opportunities into confirmed business.

The role requires highly motivated professionals who are comfortable with targets, client engagement, proposal writing, follow-up, institutional communication and pipeline management. Successful candidates will work closely with management, trainers, consultants, digital solutions teams and marketing teams to package strong client solutions and grow revenue across their assigned areas.

  • Supporting the growth of assigned Strategic Business Units.
  • Supervise and lead the BDE team
  • Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities in training, consultancy, digital solutions and professional development programmes.
  • Engaging corporate, government, NGO, donor, development, university and institutional clients.
  • Building and maintaining a strong pipeline of leads, prospects, proposals and client opportunities.
  • Following up leads from marketing campaigns, referrals, alumni networks, webinars, databases, events and institutional contacts.
  • Preparing high-quality proposals, concept notes, expressions of interest, capability statements and client presentations.
  • Supporting the conversion of potential opportunities into confirmed trainings, consultancy assignments, digital solution engagements and partnerships.
  • Managing client communication and maintaining professional relationships with current and potential clients.
  • Conducting market research to identify institutions, sectors, countries and programmes with strong business potential.
  • Supporting the development of country-specific and sector-specific business development strategies.
  • Coordinating with trainers, consultants and technical teams to package relevant solutions for clients.
  • Tracking leads, follow-ups, proposals submitted, conversions, revenue and client engagement activities.
  • Representing us professionally in meetings, calls, presentations and business discussions.
  • Supporting repeat business by maintaining strong relationships with existing clients.
  • Providing regular business development reports on assigned markets, SBUs, opportunities and revenue progress.
  • A Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in any field.
  • At least 2–4 years of experience in business development, sales, marketing, client engagement, proposal development, partnerships or institutional communication.
  • Strong communication, writing and presentation skills.
  • Ability to prepare professional proposals, concept notes, emails and client presentations.
  • Confidence in engaging clients through calls, emails, meetings and presentations.
  • Ability to follow up consistently and manage multiple opportunities at the same time.
  • Strong interest in training, consultancy, leadership development, digital solutions or professional services.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet targets.
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience in training, consultancy, NGO, development, corporate services, digital solutions or professional services sectors will be an added advantage.
  • Strong drive for results.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Confidence in client engagement.
  • Strong follow-up discipline.
  • Proposal writing and presentation ability.
