Beneath the Baobabs, a premier event venue located in Kilifi, is seeking a results-driven and enthusiastic Business Development Manager. This role is crucial for driving the growth of our venue by securing bookings for a diverse range of events, including corporate conferences, weddings, concerts, and other large-scale gatherings. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in sales, marketing, and relationship management, with a deep understanding of the events and hospitality industry in Kenya and beyond.

Key Responsibilities
The Business Development Manager will be responsible for the following areas:
Sales and Revenue Generation
- Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy to achieve sales targets and maximize venue utilization.
- Proactively identify, prospect, and qualify new business opportunities for hosting events such as conferences, retreats, festivals, and weddings at Beneath the Baobabs
- Prepare and present compelling proposals, negotiating contracts to secure bookings.
- Maintain a robust sales pipeline and regularly report on progress against targets to the leadership team.
Market Research and Strategy
- Conduct market research to identify trends, competitor activities, and potential new markets (e.g., international destination weddings, specific industry conferences).
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of Beneath the Baobabs’ offerings, unique selling propositions, and event capacities.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to create targeted campaigns and promotional materials.
Client Relationship Management
- Build and nurture strong, long-term relationships with key clients, event planners, and corporate decision-makers.
- Represent Beneath the Baobabs at industry events, trade shows, and networking functions to raise brand awareness.
Event Coordination Support
- Liaise closely with the Venue Management and Operations teams to ensure seamless transition from booking to execution.
- Provide detailed booking information and client requirements to the operations team in a timely manner.
Required Qualifications and Skills
Experience
- Minimum of 3-5 years in business development or sales, preferably within the hospitality, events, or tourism sectors.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
Communication
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Swahili.
Skills
Proven ability to meet and exceed sales targets. Strong negotiation and presentation skills.
