iXAfrica is seeking a technically driven IT Intern to support data centre operations with a focus on automation, open-source infrastructure, and cybersecurity (plus Android development exposure). This is a hands-on opportunity in an enterprise environment.

What They’re Looking For:

  • Strong Linux CLI skills and scripting (Python preferred)
  • Git collaboration experience (branches, PRs, code reviews)→
  • Understanding of TCP/IP fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, subnetting, routing)
  • Basic virtualization knowledge (VMware, KVM, Proxmox)
  • Android development (Kotlin preferred): Android Studio, SDK, Jetpack, REST/JSON integrations

Eligibility:

  • Current or recent graduate in CS, IT, Network, or Software Engineering
  • Strong problem-solving skills and clear documentation ability

What You’ll Do:

  • Build and maintain automation scripts using Python, Bash/Zsh, and Ansible
  • Deploy and manage infrastructure and monitoring tools (Terraform, Prometheus, Grafana, Netdata)
  • Support CI/CD workflows (Git, Jenkins, GitLab CI)
  • Manage server lifecycle operations (provisioning, patching, decommissioning)
  • Work with containers and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Perform logging and analysis using ELK Stack or equivalent tools

Cybersecurity Responsibilities:

Vulnerability scanning and remediation (OpenVAS, Nmap, Trivy)
SIEM monitoring and triage (Wazuh, Security Onion)
Linux hardening using CIS Benchmarks (Ubuntu, CentOS, Rocky)
Access reviews and incident documentation (SOPs)

  • Send your CV and GitHub link (applications without GitHub will not be reviewed)
  • GitHub must include at least 2 original projects with README and commit history
  • Include Android project(s) where applicable (Play Store or APK demos encouraged)
  • For each project: provide a link and a short summary (2–4 sentences) explaining the problem, technology used, and your contribution
  • Bonus: live demos, labs, CTFs, or open-source contributions
