Qualifications and skills
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or a closely related field from a recognized university.
- A Higher National Diploma in Biochemistry/Biotechnology with additional relevant certifications may be considered for entry-level roles.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience in biochemical analysis techniques
- Ability to prepare reagents, calibrate equipment, manage inventory, enforce laboratory safety protocols, and support research and student practicals
- Proficient in basic computer applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and laboratory data management systems. Familiarity with software for molecular and bioinformatics analysis is an added advantage.
- Understanding of biosafety, biosecurity, and relevant national and international laboratory quality standards, such as ISO 17025 or GLP guidelines
- At least two (2) years of relevant practical experience in a biochemistry, molecular biology, or biotechnology laboratory setting in academia, research, or industry
- Registration with a recognized professional body such as the Kenya National Biosafety Authority (NBA).
