Technical Assistant – Component Maintenance Job

Purpose

  • To provide technical and logistical support in the maintenance, inspection, and preparation of aircraft components within the component workshop, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the disassembly, cleaning, inspection, and reassembly of aircraft components under supervision.
  • Prepare components, tools, and documentation required for maintenance tasks.
  • Support technicians with basic testing procedures (e.g., leak checks, functional setups).
  • Maintain cleanliness and order in the workshop areas, ensuring adherence to 5S and FOD prevention.
  • Identify and label parts, segregate scrap or unserviceable components as per procedures.
  • Ensure accurate filing and handling of maintenance records, labels, and job cards.
  • Assist in packaging, preservation, and storage of repaired component.
  • Participate in inventory and stock checks for consumables and parts.
  • Operate workshop equipment as trained and authorized (e.g., ovens, basic test rigs).
  • Comply with all applicable safety, quality, and regulatory requirements (KCAA, EASA, company Procedures).

Qualifications

  • Certificate or Diploma in mechanical, electrical, or aviation-related field.
  • Basic knowledge of aircraft systems/components is an advantage.
  • Good manual dexterity and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow technical instructions and work procedures.
  • Strong commitment to safety and quality.
  • Willingness to learn and develop into higher technical roles (e.g., Technician, Certifying Staff).
  • Familiarity with KCAA and EASA Part-145 principles is a plus.
  • Understands component flow within the workshop (receiving, inspection, servicing, storage).
  • Capable of safely handling aircraft components, including delicate or safety-critical parts
  • Able to identify and segregate serviceable, unserviceable, and scrap components
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools and workshop equipment (torque wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers).
  • Assists in setting up test benches or rigs under technician supervision.
  • Assists in completing job cards, inspection checklists, and work packs.
  • Capable of labeling components and packaging in accordance with quality procedures.
  • Performs component cleaning (using ultrasonic baths, solvents, or manual cleaning)
  • Prepares components for inspection or testing (e.g., removal of covers, cleaning of connectors).
  • Understands basic traceability principles (e.g., part number, serial number, batch control).
  • Applies correct packaging and preservation methods for repaired or overhauled components.
  • Understands requirements for safe transport and handling of aircraft parts.
  • Training progression and task authorizations achieve.
