About the Job
This job role is a critical part of the Group’s ongoing commitment and responsibility for implementation of actions that manage the risk exposures of merchants and clients within the risk appetite of the Group, focusing on small and medium enterprise (SME) merchants and clients with large risk exposures. The job holder is an important point of contact to advocate merchant sales team and relationship managers to ensure that the Group remains within the agreed risk exposure and ensure adherence to the policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Review and approve merchant risk exposure levels and applications in line with Group Credit Risk Policy.
- Conduct financial analysis and prepare credit risk assessments for new and existing merchants and clients.
- Underwrite SME and high-risk clients (e.g. airlines, hospitality, payment facilitators, BIN-sponsored clients).
- Monitor portfolios regularly, perform stress tests, and analyse trends to recommend policy changes.
- Prepare reports for the Credit Risk Committee and follow up on recommended mitigation actions.
- Track exception reports for early risk detection and ensure alignment with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with sales, relationship managers, and other departments to resolve issues and meet client expectations.
Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management / Finance / Management Information Systems / Business Administration with strong grasp over statistical tools and techniques.
- Knowledge of payment products, solutions and services
- Should have strong communication and negotiation skills, as well as solid presentation

- Minimum 7 years’ experience in Acquiring / Banking / Financial Services / Payments Industry / Credit and Risk Management / Operations.
- Exposure to operations, payments, card operations, merchant acquiring operations with reasonable experience in process management, MIS and data analysis.
- Good understanding of payment scheme (Visa, Mastercard etc.) requirements and knowledge of Card Payment Industry in the Middle East and Africa.
- Should have strong communication, negotiation, presentation and report writing skills.
