Responsibilities
Strengthen the Sacco’s capacity in your region to design and deliver gender-responsive financial products and services
- Support a baseline capacity assessment of participating SACCOs to identify institutional, governance, and gender gaps.
- Participate in the development of SACCO capacity-building plan focusing on gender mainstreaming, inclusive governance, and product innovation
- Train SACCO management and staff on gender-responsive financial product design, customer service, and digital inclusion.
- Support SACCOs to review and tailor savings, credit, and insurance products to meet women and youth needs within the value chains.
- Provide technical support to SACCOs to adopt inclusive operational policies (e.g., gender equity in loan approval committees).
Support in the development of gender-dis-aggregated tools and data systems Review and report current SACCO data collection
- practices and participate in the development templates for gender-disaggregated data capturing (membership, loan uptake, repayment, leadership
- roles).
- Train SACCO Data focal points on tool use and Pilot tools in 3 SACCOs before full rollout. Participate in Conducting, reporting and presentation of Gender Equality and Social Inclusion(GESI) Assessment
- Responsibility 3: Together with other partners, Promote Women’s Leadership and Participation in SACCOGovernance and Decision-Making.
- Identify and mentor emerging female leaders within participating SACCOs
- Conduct gender-transformative leadership workshops for women members and SACCO board representatives
- Facilitate exchange visits and peer learning among SACCO women leaders and youth representative
- Document and disseminate case studies highlighting successful women leaders within SACCOs

Establish and Operationalize the Youth Academy for Leadership Development
- Design the Youth Academy framework focusing on women’s leadership, innovation, and entrepreneurship in agriculture
- Deliver leadership and soft-skills training modules through the Youth Academy
- Integrate mentorship, peer networking, and alumni support mechanisms for graduates
Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning:
- Track training attendance, knowledge acquisition, and business performance; Conduct post-training impact assessments & Document success stories and best practices
- Outcome Harvesting, Community Led Monitoring and Evaluation, MEAL plans, Capacity Enhancement, Knowledge management, Advocacy plans
Responsibility 5: Human Resource and partner management
- Provide day-to-day leadership and management of Field and volunteer Staffs attached to your project, create and nurture a culture that supports high performance, target achievement, learning and teamwork.
- Mobilize Community towards project activities.
- Create awareness on project goal, objectives and expected outputs.
- Facilitate development of community structures for managing the implementation of project activities.
- Facilitate recruitment and training of Community Based Resource Persons and Beneficiaries.
- Provide continuous re-orientation and training to Community Based Resource Persons and Beneficiaries on topical areas relevant to project implementation.
- Training of project Participants and other stakeholders on Gender mainstreaming principles
- Facilitate identification and sensitization and training of participant Beneficiaries on areas relevant to the project.
- Provide technical support to other partners on Gender mainstreaming.
- Facilitate linkage of Value Chain and increase women’s access to finance and training
- Facilitate institutional development of SACCOS and other institutions on Gender and enhance collective action and negotiation.
- Management of Project Resources
- Facilitate procurement planning of Beneficiaries Trainings materials.
- Undertake proper maintenance and use of assigned resources and equipment
Person Specification/Qualifications
- Education and certification: Bachelors’ Degree in Agriculture, Management, Social Sciences, Social Work, or development studies. Training in Gender Development and human rights-based approach, project planning and management, participatory approaches and methodologies, monitoring and evaluation is highly desired.
- Essential Experience: A Minimum of 3 years relevant experience, preferably in the NGO sector, 1year of which should be in Field Officer positions; experience of working in a multi-cultural context is essential. Proven experience of working with Financial inclusion projects, experience working in high poverty level regions and contexts essential, and experience working women, girls and SACCOs is an advantage.
- Essential Knowledge: In-depth understanding of Gender development, Promotion of access to Finance, Human Rights-Based Approach to Development and programming issues and policy work at national levels; Sound and up-to-date knowledge in reporting, advocacy, and demonstrable commitment to promoting youth protection and gender equality within the organization and in programme work.
Essential Skills:
- Team player and strategic thinking
- Excellent presentation, communications, and negotiation
- Networking, influencing, and interpersonal
- Fluency in written and spoken English and Kiswahili
- Proficiency in MS Office
Ability: Work on own initiative with minimum supervision and to stay on task, work under pressureand tight deadlines, and travel frequently.
Note: He/she should be a self-starter who is creative, diplomatic, mature, and decisive.
