Position Summary

Reporting to the Quality Assurance Supervisor, the Quality Controller will play a critical role in ensuring consistent product quality and food safety compliance. The role involves monitoring all stages of production — from raw material reception to finished product dispatch — to ensure adherence to internal standards, SOPs, ISO requirements, and regulatory guidelines.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Quality Inspection & Monitoring

  • Conduct inspections and quality checks on incoming fruits, in-process production, and finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards.

Laboratory Testing & Analysis

  • Perform laboratory tests including sensory evaluation, Free Fatty Acid (FFA) analysis, Peroxide Value (PV), dry matter testing, and maturity assessments.

Production & Cold Room Monitoring

  • Monitor fruit quality during offloading, cold room conditions, and hygiene standards across production areas.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate QA records, non-conformance reports, and quality documentation in line with ISO 9001:2015, ISO 22000:2018, HACCP, GMP, and food labeling standards.

Corrective & Preventive Actions (CAPA)

  • Identify deviations, conduct root cause analysis, propose corrective and preventive actions, and advise management on quality improvements.

Training & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Train production staff on quality standards and hygiene practices; collaborate with production and other departments to improve processes and resolve quality issues.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Certificate or higher qualification in Food Science, Quality Assurance, Analytical Chemistry, Microbiology, or related field
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in QA/QC within the food processing industry
  • Hands-on experience in avocado grading and identification is an added advantage
  • Familiarity with ISO standards, HACCP, GMP, and Quality/Food Safety Management Systems
  • Proficiency in computer applications for reporting and data analysis
