Quality Assurance & Compliance Manager Job
Our client a leading packaging manufacturer based in Nairobi, specializing in folding cartons, wet glue labels and flexible packaging for various industries seeks to recruit an experienced Quality Assurance and Compliance Manager.
Job purpose: To maintain and improve our quality management systems across production processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain the company’s Quality Management System (QMS) as well as the ISO 22000 FSSC system for food packaging.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 22000 and other relevant industry standards.
- Lead and manage all quality control (QC) procedures on the production floor.
- Work closely with production, design, and customer service teams to reduce product defects and improve process reliability.
- Conduct internal audits, prepare for external audits, and oversee corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Train staff on quality standards, inspection methods, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Liaise with clients on quality expectations, complaints, and improvements
- Generate regular reports for management on QA metrics, root cause analysis, and action plans.
- Evaluate and improve vendor quality assurance standards when necessary.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Chemistry, Quality Management, Printing Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in a QA or QC role in manufacturing, ideally in packaging, printing, or FMCG.
- Proven knowledge and hands-on experience with ISO 9001 QMS and ISO 22000 FSSC.
- Familiarity with printing and packaging quality standards, including colour matching, registration accuracy, and material integrity.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented and analytical, with strong problem-solving skills.
- Certification in Lead Auditor ISO 9001, Six Sigma, or Lean Manufacturing is an added advantage.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in the carton, flexible packaging or label printing industry.
- Working knowledge of ink testing, adhesion, bar code verification, and die-cut precision.
- Experience with quality tools like FMEA, root cause analysis, Pareto charts.
