Overall Purpose
We are looking for a Purchasing Specialist to be responsible for developing local quality suppliers to ensure low cost, timely and compliant supply of production materials (raw materials, equipment maintenance parts)

Key Responsibilities
- Supplier development and procurement execution
- Development and management of local suppliers
- Regularly research the local raw material market in Kenya (packaging materials, pulp, industrial accessories, plastic raw materials, electronic components, etc.) and establish a supplier database.
- Led the qualification review of suppliers, including supply category, supply capacity, quality control system, and environmental compliance documents.
- Sign long-term cooperation agreements with local suppliers, and regularly review the performance.
- Confirm the material specifications, quantity, and delivery nodes according to the purchase demand list of the factories.
- Implement the “three-store comparison” strategy and reduce the purchase cost through negotiation.
- Issue purchase orders, track delivery, and factory acceptance, and deal with delays or quality problems.
- Ensure compliance with laws governing procurement in Kenya.
- Keep complete purchase records (contract, quality inspection report, payment voucher) and cooperate with audit and tax inspection.
- Develop backup suppliers for shortage materials to avoid the risk of production stoppage.
- Develop supply resources for non-woven fabric, SAP polymer resin, PE film, plastic packaging, carton packaging materials, etc., and require suppliers to provide toxicological test reports (in line with infant products standards).
- Develop supply resources for toner, plastic particles, mold manufacturers, labels, carton packaging materials, etc.,
- Develop supply resources for electronic components (speakers, circuit boards) considering ISO 9001 quality management certification.
- Equipment maintenance material procurement
- Quick response: within 24 hours after receiving the maintenance application, urgent parts will be purchased.
- Cooperate with the logistics department to manage the inventory of spare parts and other raw materials.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A degree or diploma in supply chain management, procurement-related major.
- At least 1 year of working experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in handling cartons, plastic packaging, electronic equipment, production machines spare parts is an added advantage.
- Proficient in Swahili and English
- Proficient in ERP systems and Excel data analysis
- Possess excellent negotiation skills
- Must be a registered member of the Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (KISM)
- Honest
- Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
