Our client is a mission-driven company that owns and operates renewable energy and distribution utility assets across Sub-Saharan Africa. Their goal is simple but bold: to deliver clean, reliable, and affordable electricity to communities and industries across the continent.

As they scale their impact, they are seeking a Project Developer to lead the origination, development, and execution of utility-scale solar PV projects across the region. This is a high-impact role for a strategic thinker and doer who thrives in dynamic, fast-paced environments and is passionate about transforming Africa’s energy future.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors in Engineering, Environment Management, Renewable Energy
• 7 – 10 years experience in large scale renewable energy project from development to financial close
• Experience working in African or emerging markets on utility-scale solar PV and BESS experience.
• Familiarity with project financial modeling and investment readiness processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead site identification, feasibility studies, and land acquisition strategies for utility-scale solar and BESS projects.
• Manage the permitting process, securing environmental, land use, and regulatory approvals.
• Drive PPA/offtake processes, including structuring and negotiating Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and offtake arrangements to secure long-term revenue streams.
• Lead grid interconnection processes, including applications, studies, and utility negotiations.
• Engage with local communities and stakeholders to build trust, manage expectations, and resolve issues proactively.
• Oversee financial modeling to assess project viability, working closely with the Investments team.
