Our Company is located in Mtwapa, Kilifi County along the main Mombasa-Malindi Road. The company’s business is in processing and sale of fruit pulps/concentrates, juices and water under the reputable brand. We are setting up a fruit dehydration plant in Malindi, mainly for the export market. We are looking for a Production Supervisor to lead in producing finished products for the European Market.

Job Purpose
To oversee, coordinate, and manage all production activities in the fruit dehydration plant to ensure efficient operations, high product quality, compliance with food-safety standards, and achievement of daily, weekly, and monthly production targets. The role ensures optimal utilization of raw materials, equipment, staff, and resources while maintaining strict adherence to safety, hygiene, and GMPs.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise the fruit receiving process, including the formation and management of offloading, sorting, and ripening teams.
- Verify, measure, and accurately document the weights of fresh fruits received, as well as in-process quantities transferred from ripening to the drying stage.
- Coordinate and supervise fruit processing activities, including washing, peeling, slicing, treatment, weighing, tray loading, and dryer loading.
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise production teams from the washing stage through to dispatch of finished goods.
- Monitor drying cycles and process parameters, and continuously optimize efficiency and product quality.
- Monitor and control production costs, including utilities, labour, consumables, packaging materials, and support services.
- Train, mentor and motivate production staff on job responsibilities, safety procedures, food hygiene, and company policies.
- Plan, schedule, and manage shifts for dryer and boiler operators to ensure uninterrupted operations.
- Ensure proper use, cleaning, and routine maintenance of machinery and equipment, including dryers, washing machines, and packaging equipment, in coordination with the technical or maintenance team.
- Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, packaging supplies, and biomass fuel to support continuous production.
- Monitor finished goods stock levels and coordinate preparation of products for dispatch.
- Accurately record and maintain data on all production and drying activities, including production outputs, quality control records, deviations, and corrective actions. Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production reports.
- Identify process inefficiencies and recommend corrective and preventive actions to improve productivity, yields, and product quality. Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Serve as a member of the food safety team, ensuring compliance with HACCP, GMP, and applicable regulatory standards.
- Prepare production input requirements and contribute to budgeting and cost planning exercises.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science/Food Technology or related field.
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience in food processing, with at least three (3) years in a dehydration or fruit-processing environment.
- Strong knowledge of HACCP, GMP, ISO22000, and food safety regulations.
- Technical understanding of dehydration equipment and production flows.
- Experience supervising production teams
