Our client is an established business based in Tanzania offering a range of beverage drinks. They are looking to hire a Head of Production to lead their beverage manufacturing process. This key role will involve overseeing production management, quality assurance, and team leadership, ensuring that all products meet the highest standards of quality and safety. The successful candidate will play a crucial part in driving innovation and optimizing production efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Production Management:

• Lead and manage the entire beverage production process from raw material handling to finished product packaging.
• Develop and implement production plans, schedules, and strategies to meet production targets and deadlines.
• Optimize production workflows to enhance efficiency while maintaining product quality.
• Develop, implement and monitor KPI’s throughout the packaging department.
• Develop SOP’s – Standard Operating Procedures for the departmental procedures and workflows.

Product Research & Development

• In collaboration with stakeholders, design, develop new products while improving existing ones.
• Bench mark processes, activities and products with the best in class; adopting world class manufacturing practices.

Quality Assurance:

• Ensure that all beverage products meet quality and safety standards, adhering to regulatory requirements.
• Implement and maintain quality control processes, including inspections and testing procedures.
• Investigate and resolve quality-related issues, implementing corrective actions as needed.

Team Leadership:

• Build and lead a high-performing production team, providing coaching and mentorship.
• Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Manage staffing, training, and development needs within the production department.

Resource Management:

• Manage production budgets, including cost control and resource allocation.
• In collaboration with the Plant Engineer, ensure equipment maintenance, repairs and upgrades are carried out as necessary.
• Ensure adequate inventory levels of raw materials and supplies.

Compliance and Safety:

• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a safe working environment.
• Keep up-to-date with industry best practices and technological advancements in beverage production.
• Ensure highest standards of housekeeping.

Production Reporting:

• In liaison with the leadership team, set and review departmental Budgets, Objectives, Goals and SOP’s.
• Create, Implement, Optimize and Monitor departmental key performance indicators (KPIs) with the aim of achieving overall department goals.
• Prepare regular production reports, including performance metrics and KPIs.
• Analyze data to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions accordingly.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Industrial Chemistry, Biological sciences, or a related field; Professional qualifications preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in beverage research, development and production management.
• In-depth knowledge of beverage production processes and quality control.
• Good collaboration, analytical skills and consumer market awareness
• Strong leadership and team management skills, including the ability to work under pressure.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements and quality standards in the beverage industry.
• Proficiency in using production management software and tools.
