QuickMart is searching for a highly skilled and motivated Head of Internal Audit to guide their internal audit function. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing robust audit processes to ensure compliance, enhance operational efficiency, and manage risk throughout the organization. This pivotal role reports directly to the Managing Director – Kenya, with a dotted line to the Board Audit Committee, offering strategic insight and independent assurance to senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the annual internal audit plan aligned with corporate strategy.
• Lead independent reviews of financial, operational, and compliance processes.
• Assess effectiveness of internal controls, risk management frameworks, and regulatory compliance.
• Provide actionable recommendations to strengthen governance and safeguard company assets.
• Present audit findings and risk insights to the Board Audit Committee and senior management.
• Oversee fraud risk assessments and AML compliance audits.
• Manage and mentor the internal audit team, ensuring professional growth and adherence to international audit standards.
• Collaborate with external auditors, regulators, and stakeholders to maintain transparency and accountability.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to drive improvements and ensure best practices.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a degree in finance or business administration fields
• Professional qualification in auditing, accounting, or a related field (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CIA).
• At least 10 years’ experience in internal audit within a retail or commercial environment, with at least 4 years in a senior management capacity.
• Prior audit experience with a Big 4 audit firm is a plus
• Strong knowledge of retail operations, risk management, and compliance frameworks.
• Proven expertise in fraud detection, AML controls, and corporate governance.
• Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
• High integrity, independence, and ability to influence at Board level.
• Sound knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards.
