Our client, a leading timber wholesaler and retailer in Nairobi, seeks a seasoned Finance Manager to drive financial planning, cashflow, tax compliance, and working capital optimisation across manufacturing and supply chain operations. The role oversees finance, receivables/payables, inventory, compliance, and reporting functions with strategic and supervisory responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Planning & Cashflow: Prepare and maintain rolling cashflow forecasts, advise on
- liquidity planning, capital allocation, and support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term
- financial strategies.
- Tax Advisory & Compliance: Provide strategic tax guidance across manufacturing, timber
- processing, imports/exports, and contracting; ensure compliance with KRA regulations (VAT,
- PAYE, corporate tax, customs, eTIMS) and coordinate audits and filings.
- Accounts Receivable & Payables: Oversee receivables and collections to maintain healthy
- debtor days; manage supplier payments, supervise AR/AP teams, and ensure accurate
- invoicing, reconciliations, and documentation.
- Strategic Operations Support: Provide financial and commercial input on projects,
- procurement, and expansion; develop KPIs across collections, inventory, manufacturing
- efficiency, and procurement; support ERP/accounting/inventory system optimisation.
- Profitability & Efficiency: Drive financial strategies to improve profitability and operational
- efficiency, ensuring strong alignment between financial planning, compliance, and
- operational execution.
- Financial reporting- Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, preparation of
- management accounts, and production of accurate financial statements.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or related field, plus CPA(K), ACCA,
- or equivalent professional qualification.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in finance and operations management within
- manufacturing, construction, timber, or industrial sectors.
- Strong expertise in manufacturing taxation, KRA compliance, and import/export
- regulations in Kenya.
- Proven skills in cashflow forecasting, inventory planning, and working capital
- management.
- Proficiency in ERP/accounting systems with advanced Excel reporting capability.
- Strategic thinker with commercial awareness, high integrity, negotiation strength, and
- excellent communication/reporting skills.
