Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required:
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: –
- Cumulative service period of six (6) years’ work experience, three (3) of which should have been at the grade of Driver I or in a comparable position;Â
- A valid BCE driving license without any current endorsement(s);Â
- Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean Grade D plain or its equivalent qualification;Â
- Occupational Trade Test II for Drivers;Â
- First-Aid Certificate Course lasting not less than one (I) week from St. John Ambulance or Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized Institution;Â
- Defensive Driving Certificate from the Automobile Association (AA) of Kenya or its equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution;Â
- Refresher Course for drivers lasting not less than one (1) week at the Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT)or any other recognized Institution;Â
- Valid Certificate of Good Conduct;Â
- Proficiency in Computer Application; andÂ
- Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
Responsibilities
- Ensuring a high level of integrity and confidentiality;Â
- Carrying out periodic checks on the assigned vehicle to determine maintenance needs and reporting accordingly and on time;Â
- Keeping up-to-date vehicle mileage log and maintaining work tickets for vehicles assigned;Â
- Ensuring security and safety for the vehicle on and off the road;Â
- Ensuring the safety of the passengers, other road users, and the assigned vehicle;Â
- Inspecting assigned vehicles and keeping up-to-date insurance documents;Â
- Ensuring the assigned vehicle(s) has the necessary tools (toolbox, spotlight, umbrella, fire extinguisher, and an equipped first aid kit);Â
- Ensuring that the vehicle is taken for service when due;Â
- Adhering to the Traffic Act, and the Authority’s policies and procedures on fleet management;Â
- Ensuring that the assigned vehicle(s) is always fuelled in line with the policies and procedures on fleet management;Â
- Reporting any incident that involves injury, or damage to any passenger, pedestrian or third-party property immediately, in line with established policies and procedures; andÂ
- Ensuring cleanliness of the assigned vehicle at all times when in use or otherwise and that the vehicle is in good condition before use.

Applicants must satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya by submitting valid and current copies of the following:
- Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.
- Tax Compliance Certificate from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).
- Clearance Certificate from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB).
- Clearance Certificate from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
- Report from a Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).
