We are looking for a detail-oriented individual to join our team as a travel manager. The responsibilities of the travel manager include optimizing our travel operations, making travel arrangements over the phone or the internet, providing guidance on travel arrangements, and preparing budget reports.

To be a successful travel manager, you should have a strong working knowledge of travel management processes and excellent attention to detail. Ultimately, a top-notch travel manager is skilled at maintaining positive relationships with airlines and hotels and at providing a smooth travel experience.

Operations & Client Management

  • Oversee end-to-end handling of FIT and group travel queries for Kenya
  • Act as the primary escalation point for complex queries and service issues
  • Ensure seamless execution of confirmed itineraries and high client satisfaction

Quotation & Costing

  • Review and approve FIT and group quotations, ensuring accuracy and profitability
  • Monitor margins, pricing strategies, and turnaround time
  • Support the sales team with destination expertise and product suggestions

Supplier & Contracting Management

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with hotels, transporters, guides, and activity providers
  • Negotiate competitive rates, contracts, and special offers
  • Ensure suppliers meet company service and quality standards

Team Leadership & Coordination

  • Lead, mentor, and support quotation, booking, and operations teams
  • Allocate workloads and ensure timely delivery during peak seasons
  • Conduct training sessions on Kenya destinations and products

Quality Control & Risk Management

  • Ensure accuracy of bookings, vouchers, and travel documents
  • Handle last-minute changes, emergencies, and on-ground issues
  • Ensure compliance with company SOPs and destination regulations

Product Development & Market Intelligence

  • Research new hotels, experiences, and routes in Kenya
  • Create and update destination products, itineraries, and rate sheets
  • Monitor market trends, competitor offerings, and customer preferences

Reporting & Performance Management

  • Track conversion ratios, revenue, margins, and operational performance
  • Provide regular reports and insights to senior management

Skills & Competencies

  • In-depth knowledge of Kenya as a travel destination
  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills
  • Excellent negotiation and supplier management capabilities
  • Commercial mindset with strong costing and budgeting skills
  • Outstanding communication skills (verbal & written English)
  • Ability to manage pressure, deadlines, and multiple priorities
  • Customer-focused with strong problem-solving abilities

Qualifications & Experience

  • Graduate (Travel & Tourism / Business preferred)
    6–10+ years experience in DMC operations, with Kenya specialization mandatory
  • Proven experience handling FIT and group travel business
  • Strong proficiency in MS Excel, costing tools, and DMC systems
