Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Backend Developer located in Kenya. The Backend Developer will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining efficient server-side applications. Daily tasks include writing clean and scalable code, troubleshooting and debugging backend systems, and collaborating with front-end developers and other team members. The role also involves optimizing application performance and ensuring data security and integrity.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in server-side programming languages such as Python, Java, PHP, or Node.js
- Experience with database design, management, and querying (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB)
- Knowledge of API development and integration, as well as RESTful services
- Understanding of cloud platforms and tools like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure
- Familiarity with version control systems such as Git
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to debug and troubleshoot systems
- Excellent communication and team collaboration abilities
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred
- Previous experience working in a startup environment is an added advantage
