Assistant Director Gender Job Uasin Gishu County Government

  • Bachelor’s degree in Gender Studies, Sociology, Social Work, Community Development, Development Studies or any other relevant and equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field will be an added advantage.
  • At least 6 years of relevant experience with 3 years in a senior or supervisory role in gender and community development.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in gender mainstreaming and community engagement.
  • Strong understanding of national gender policy frameworks and international conventions (e.g. CEDAW, SDGs).
  • Excellent communication, leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in project management and M&E tools.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Assist in formulation, review and implementation of gender and community development policies and strategies.
  • Ensure integration of gender mainstreaming in all county programs and projects.
  • Oversee planning, implementation and evaluation of gender and community-based programs.
  • Coordinate capacity-building activities for staff and community groups on gender equality and empowerment.
  • Liaise with stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, development partners, and community-based organizations.
  • Promote community participation and inclusion in development initiatives.
  • Conduct gender analysis and community needs assessments to inform programming.
  • Maintain up-to-date data and reports on gender and community development indicators.
  • Track progress of gender and community development projects and recommend improvements.
  • Prepare periodic reports on program performance, impacts, and resource utilization.
  • Participate in proposal writing and mobilization of resources to support programs.
  • Supervise and mentor junior officers in the gender and community development department.
  • Plan, monitor and evaluate performance of staff against the set targets.
  • Organize training, workshops and seminars on gender equality and social inclusion.
