Advocacy Manager Job Inkomoko

The Advocacy Manager will play a key role in advancing Inkomoko’s in-country advocacy priorities. They will actively engage in policy discussions,  manage relationships with key partners, and support in-country advocacy efforts to influence government, partners, and stakeholders within the displaced community  ecosystem. 

Working closely with the Managing Director, and the Regional Director of Advocacy, the manager will drive advocacy efforts that influence policy decisions and expand economic opportunities for refugee and host-community MSMEs. They will help align national advocacy efforts with regional and global priorities while tracking policy developments and contribute to learning and adaptation.

The ideal candidate will have experience supporting policy engagement and advocacy initiatives, particularly within displacement affected contexts or with vulnerable populations. They should be able to translate strategic priorities into practical action, manage advocacy initiatives, and deliver measurable outcomes. The candidate will be skilled at building and maintaining relationships across public, nonprofit, and private sector stakeholders, leveraging these partnerships to advance inclusive economic opportunities. They should also be able to contribute insights to inform the advocacy strategy, ensure efforts are grounded in evidence and align with Inkomoko’s mission to promote entrepreneurship and inclusive economic development.

The key responsibilities include;

Strategic execution

  • Lead the rollout of the country’s advocacy strategy, ensuring activities are practical, coordinated, and aligned with overall impact targets.
  • Monitor policy and regulatory developments affecting refugee and host-community MSMEs, and synthesize insights to inform leadership decision-making and advocacy priorities.
  • Prepare briefings, analysis, and key messages to support the Managing Director and Director of Advocacy in external engagements and strategic forums.

Stakeholder management

  • Build and leverage strategic relationships across government, donors, and the private sector to advance Inkomoko’s advocacy priorities including driving investment, strengthening market linkages, and promoting inclusive financial regulation in refugee-hosting regions.
  • Lead external advocacy partnerships and coalitions, working closely with stakeholders to ensure alignment & coordinated action.
  • Support the Managing Director in representing Inkomoko at key forums and to position the organization as a leading voice on market-based economic inclusion.

Refugee Led Organizations (RLO) Capacity & Advocacy Support

  • Support the rollout of an Advocacy Incubator for RLOs, strengthening their capacity to engage on priority policy and regulatory reforms.
  • Partner with RLOs to generate evidence-based knowledge products that highlight the economic contribution of refugee MSMEs.
  • Build sustained platforms that position refugee-led organisations as authoritative actors in policy processes.

Evidence & Knowledge Management

  • Collaborate with the Director of Advocacy and MEL team to translate research findings and program data into clear, actionable policy recommendations.
  • Track and report on advocacy outcomes, using data and learning to refine approaches and improve effectiveness over time.
  • Work cross-functionally with  country teams to ensure advocacy priorities are grounded in implementation realities and aligned across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Policy, International Relations, Humanitarian Affairs, or a related field.
  • At least 8 years of progressive experience in policy advocacy.
  • Proven track record of engaging with senior government officials, donors, and international organizations to influence policy.
  • Extensive knowledge of political, economic, and social dynamics, in the Humanitarian sector.
  • Strong research and analytical capabilities, with the ability to translate data into actionable policy recommendations.
