Looking Forward To Delivering Excellent Customer Service? Read This To Find Out

Did you know that the number one reason why customers leave is because they feel like you don’t care about them? But, how can you show them that you care? By providing excellent customer service.

Last week, we visited a clinic to know more about the services offered. Customer care directed us to waiting bay to wait for few minutes but it took 2 hours yet she was just reading a magazine and talking to her friends via the call. This left us with a bad impression because we expected to be updated as time went.. After 2 hours, we decided to leave but first ask her about the cost of their services. This was her response ‘I also don’t have more details about that service, just go back and come the following day, we are closing in the next 20 minutes. That was the worst experience we had and we opted for other clinics.

You may have a fantastic product or service but if your customer service is unreliable then you’ll lose customers over it.

Having excellent customer service means that you follow best practices like valuing customers’ time, responding their inquiries promptly, and doing a follow up on their experience.

Customer satisfaction is the key measure to business success because a happy customer leads to referrals which lead to profits.

So, how will you deliver excellent customer service?

1. Be Friendly

This is the first rule to excellent customer service. Being courteous and greeting the customers with a smile shows that you value them. Pay attention to the customer’s needs and offer help before they ask.

2. Know Your Product Or Service

Know the features of the product and service for you to show your customers how the product or service can help solve their problem and help them get the most out of their purchase and get true value for their money.

If customer care had given us the details or recommended us someone else to give us information about the service we wanted, then we would have considered coming back the following day.

3. Respond Quickly

Great customer service beats speed every time and attending to customers queries as quickly as possible is the cornerstone of good customer service.

4. Keep Your Word

Keeping your word shows respect and trust hence if you promise something ensure you deliver it.

If a promise is broken, consider offering something to make up for the broken promise to rebuild the trust between you and the customer.

For example, customer care had informed us to wait for a few minutes but it took 2 hours for her to attend to us and she didn’t apologize for keeping us that long.

5. Ask for Feedback and Implement It

Asking for opinions and feedback from the customers shows that you care about their views and it makes them feel appreciate. The feedback given should be used to improve customer service and identify the areas that need change.
