Duty Station: Call Africa Shalom Centre, Kahawa-West, Nairobi County (Kenya), with regular travel to Kiambu, Machakos and Kajiado counties.
Supervisor: Project Manager.
Contract Type: 4-month collaboration contract, with a possible 12-months extension.
Gross Monthly Salary: To be discussed based on experience and qualifications.

Profile
Duties and Responsibilities

The Project Officer will work under the direct supervision of the Project Manager. The Project Officer will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination, implementation, and monitoring of project activities in line with donor requirements and organizational standards. The areas of the project implementation will be Kiambu, Machakos, Kajiado and Nairobi County.

Project Implementation and Coordination

  • To coordinate and support the implementation of project activities in accordance with the approved workplan and timeline.
  • To ensure effective collaboration with local stakeholders, including partners, government authorities, and community groups.
  • To support logistical arrangements for trainings, workshops, and field visits.
  • To monitor activity progress and flag any delays or risks to the Project Manage.

Monitoring and Reporting

  • To collect and compile data for project indicators, ensuring quality and timeliness
  • To draft activity reports, minutes of meetings, and other internal documentation.
  • To support the preparation of narrative reports for the institutional donor.
  • To participate in regular field visits to monitor activities and gather feedback from beneficiaries.

Administration and Compliance

  • To ensure that activities are implemented in compliance with the donor’s guidelines and the organization’s internal procedures.
  • To support procurement processes related to project activities (e.g., quotes, purchase requests, delivery follow-ups).
  • To maintain proper documentation of all project-related files (both digital and physical).

Communication and Representation

  • To represent the organization in local coordination meetings and events related to the project.
  • To maintain professional relationships with local stakeholders and community representatives.

Other Duties

  • To provide inputs for project planning and potential revisions.
  • To contribute to identifying good practices, lessons learned, and areas for improvement.
  • To perform any other tasks assigned by the Country Representative in line with the role.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • University degree in a relevant field (e.g., Development Studies, Social Sciences, Project Management) with a minimum of four (4) years of experience in a similar role (e.g., Project Officer, Project Manager, or Community Facilitator)
    OR
    Completion of post-secondary education with at least seven (7) years of professional experience working with NGOs or other community development organizations;
  • Proven experience in project implementation, community mobilization, and working directly with vulnerable or marginalized groups.
  • Good knowledge of project cycle management (PCM) and familiarity with institutional donors.
  • Good knowledge of AICS procedures.
  • Strong skills in report writing, data collection, and monitoring of field activities.
  • Good command of English and Kiswahili (written and spoken); knowledge of Italian is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in computer applications (MS Word, Excel, Email, CANVA); familiarity with tools such as Google meets and zoom.
  • Knowledge of Ministry of Labor and Social Protection – State Department for Labor and Skills Development (SDL-SD) and Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA).
  • Familiarity with Kiambu, Machakos e Kajiado county is considered a strong asset.

Additional Skills

  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a strong sense of responsibility and cultural sensitivity.
  • Willingness to travel across different counties and to spend extended periods using public or private transport for field missions. In addition to being available for travel across counties, the candidate is expected to maintain a consistent physical presence at the Call Africa office in Nairobi.
