NextGen for Earth empowers youth to take the lead in restoring the environment, strengthening mental health in schools, promoting indigenous knowledge, and building community capacity. We believe that young people are key to driving bold, inclusive climate action, and we create opportunities for them to learn, innovate, and shape sustainable solutions for the future.

Role Overview

The Environmental Mentee program is a one-year voluntary opportunity designed to give young people practical experience in climate action and leadership.

Responsibilities

  • As an Environmental Mentee, you will participate in planned climate and greening initiatives such as tree planting, forest restoration, and greening schools and health facilities.
  • You will learn how to design and write project proposals, gain exposure to intergenerational knowledge sharing, and take part in initiatives that strengthen both communities and youth voices.
  • Additionally, you will benefit from mentorship from the best scientist across the globe.
  • Each mentee will be expected to develop and lead one activity each quarter, demonstrating initiative and creativity.
  • During the interview process, you will be asked to share your proposed community-based idea for reverting global warming,which you will then implement during the program.
  • You will also take part in capacity building and community learning, working closely with mentors and peers to create meaningful impact.

Who We Are Looking For

  • This program is open to young people who are passionate about the environment, mental health, and youth-led change.
  • We are looking for individuals who are eager to learn, collaborate, and take initiative.
  • You must be willing to commit three days per month for one year, and ready to present your proposed quarterly activity plan during the interview process.
