It operates under the Biosafety Act No. 2 of 2009 and regulates all activities related to GMOs, including their use in food, feed, research, industry, trade, and environmental release. The NBA is dedicated to the safe development, transfer, handling, and usage of GMOs in the country. It plays a vital role in ensuring compliance with international biosafety standards in Kenya.

Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role, based in Nairobi County, Kenya, for a Principal Supply Chain Management Officer. The officer will oversee and manage the entire supply chain function, including procurement planning, sourcing, contract management, and supplier relationship management. Duties include implementing procurement policies, ensuring supply chain efficiency, monitoring compliance with regulations, and supervising supply chain teams. The role will also involve analyzing supply chain performance, preparing reports, and liaising with stakeholders to optimize procurement operations and alignment with the NBA’s objectives.
Qualifications
- Extensive knowledge of procurement processes, contract management, and supply chain strategies
- Experience in analyzing and optimizing supply chain operations to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness
- Strong leadership, supervision, and team management skills
- Excellent planning, organization, and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency in compliance with national and international procurement regulations
- Demonstrable knowledge in managing budgets and preparing procurement reports
- Advanced communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders
- Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or related field; professional certifications like CIPS are an added advantage
- Experience in the public sector or biosafety-related organizations is an asset
