Job Purpose
To provide comprehensive cancer care by specializing in the use of radiation therapy for tumor treatment and symptom management, ensuring accurate planning, precise delivery, and thorough patient follow-up and support.

Duties and responsibilities
Reporting to the Head of Oncology, the position holder will be responsible for the following:
- Interpreting diagnostic imaging and pathology reports to facilitate accurate treatment planning.
- Developing individualized radiation treatment plans in collaboration with medical physicists and radiation therapy technologists.
- Prescribing and overseeing the administration of external beam radiation, brachytherapy, and other radiation modalities.
- Monitoring patients during and after radiation therapy to assess treatment response and manage side effects or complications.
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary oncology teams to coordinate comprehensive cancer care.
- Communicating treatment plans, expected outcomes, and post-treatment care to patients and families.
- Participating in tumor boards and multidisciplinary case discussions.
- Engaging in clinical research, quality improvement initiatives, and continuous medical education in radiation oncology.
- Mentoring junior doctors, interns, and medical students in oncology practice.
- Any other duty as may be assigned.
Key Qualifications and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from an institution recognized by the Kenya Medical
- Practitioners’ and Dentists’ Council.
- Master’s degree in Medicine in Radiation Oncology or equivalent from an institution
- recognized by the Kenya Medical Practitioners’ and Dentists’ Council.
- Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners’ and Dentists’ Council.
- Retention in the Kenya Medical Practitioners’ and Dentists’ Council register.
- Recognition as a Specialist by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
- Valid Practice License as a specialist from the Kenya Medical Practitioners’ and Dentists’
- Council.
- Professional Insurance Indemnity Cover.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
- Compliance with Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya.
