Job Purpose

The Head Engineer oversees all engineering, maintenance, and technical operations.

This role ensures equipment efficiency, safety, and regulatory compliance while leading a high-performing technical team.

Key Responsibilities

Technical & Operational Management

• Oversee installation, operation, repair and maintenance of production machinery and utilities.
• Implement preventive and corrective maintenance schedules to minimize downtime.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and automation issues.
• Ensure all equipment meets safety and manufacturing standards.
• Maintain technical documentation, logs, and SOPs.

Team Leadership & Supervision

• Lead and mentor the engineering and maintenance team.
• Conduct safety and equipment training sessions.
• Allocate tasks, set objectives, and evaluate performance.
• Foster teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Compliance, Safety & Quality Assurance

• Ensure compliance with KEBS, NEMA, OSHA, and industry regulations.
• Enforce HSSE and company safety policies.
• Support GMP, hygiene, and food safety standards with the Quality Manager.

Budgeting & Resource Management

• Manage engineering department budgets.
• Oversee spare parts, materials, and tools utilization.
• Recommend equipment upgrades and improvements.

Continuous Improvement & Projects

• Lead engineering projects, upgrades, and expansions.
• Improve efficiency and reduce waste.
• Conduct root cause analysis and corrective actions.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years’ engineering experience in manufacturing (FMCG/beverage preferred).
• Proven team leadership experience.
• Strong troubleshooting and maintenance skills.
