My Job Search Journey with CSS

If you are in the midst of a job search, you must have encountered challenges that range from rejection to a lack of feedback.

This may lead to frustration especially if you’ve invested a significant amount of time and effort in the application process.

For Valerie Kemboi, one of her major challenges in her journey was applying for many roles without getting back

from the employers.

When we advertised for the role of HR & Payroll Officer for our client Nodor Kenya EPZ, she stood out in a pool of many applicants.

Let’s dive into her job search journey!

Tell us about yourself.

I am an HR professional, a practicing Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP-K) with over 5 years of experience working in a provider of agricultural products and a marketing agency.

I am also an MBA-Strategic Management holder as well as a Bachelor of Business Management- Human Resource Management holder.

How long had you been looking for a job?

I had been looking for a job for close to three months because I had reached a point where I wanted to transition from my then employer’.

What has your job search experience been like?

The job search can be very harrowing however for me and my experience with CSS was smooth because the team was very supportive and they maintained a constant follow-up on my status until I landed my new role.

Are there any specific challenges you encountered in your job search process?

The main challenge was lack of feedback from the employers.

Where did you hear about Corporate Staffing and the job opportunity? And would you recommend Corporate Staffing to anyone?

Being in the HR space I interacted mostly with recruiting agencies in the course of my work. I first learned about CSS when I was looking for a recruitment firm to engage on behalf of my employer.

While browsing through their website, I came across the open roles that were advertised on the website and submitted my application.

I recommend CSS to anyone looking for a job in any industry and I applaud the CSS team for their professionalism and sensitivity, especially at that time when someone is looking for a job.

How was the application and interview process?

The process was very smooth. I went through three interviews and throughout, the CSS team sought to find out how I was doing, and when they had any communication to make they did in good time so that I had enough time to prepare.

Did you think you would get the job?

I knew it was a challenge because of the stiff competition. From the onset, I was not the only candidate and I had to work smart to ensure that I stood out in a pool of other applicants.

What do you think employers look for or check when selecting suitable candidates?

Employers look for candidates that align with their organizational objectives and culture as well as solid expertise in their field of practice.

Many professionals continue to look for jobs during this tough time. What is your advice to them?

Apply for the right jobs, do not fall short in your preparation, present yourself professionally, show up without any doubt, be confident enough, and have the right attitude for you to succeed.
