The Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation is recruiting students for an Industrial Attachment programme spanning three months. This internship provides hands-on experience across multiple departments including engineering, finance, human resources, and information technology. Based in Nairobi, the organisation focuses on deploying renewable energy infrastructure and electrification solutions to underserved rural communities across Kenya.
As an intern, you will work alongside experienced professionals committed to delivering sustainable energy access and socio-economic development through clean power systems. The Industrial Attachment at The Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation offers exposure to real-world project execution, policy implementation, and technical operations in the renewable energy sector. The attachment period is strictly non-renewable and fixed at three months.
Key Responsibilities
- Support project teams in the design, planning, and implementation of rural electrification schemes
- Assist in data collection, analysis, and reporting on renewable energy installations and system performance
- Contribute to administrative and technical documentation for energy projects across assigned departments
- Participate in site visits and field assessments to monitor project progress and infrastructure deployment
- Support the coordination of activities between internal teams and external stakeholders on renewable energy initiatives
- Conduct research on renewable energy technologies, rural electrification trends, and industry best practices
- Help prepare reports, presentations, and communications related to the organisation’s energy programmes
Requirements & Qualifications
- Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or diploma student in engineering, finance, human resources, ICT, or a related field
- Strong academic record and demonstrated commitment to studies
- Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with office software
- Willingness to work in a team and learn from experienced professionals
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to adapt to different work environments and departments within the organisation
