Waste Water Treatment Supervisor Job (35-40K)

Plant Operations Management

  • Oversee end-to-end wastewater treatment processes including screening, aeration, sedimentation, filtration, and sludge management.
  • Ensure optimal operation of biological, chemical, and mechanical treatment systems.
  • Monitor influent and effluent parameters (BOD, COD, pH, TSS, flow rates) and adjust processes to maintain compliance.
  • Ensure continuous plant operation with minimal downtime through proactive supervision.

Process Monitoring & Optimization

  • Analyze operational data and laboratory results to identify trends and inefficiencies.
  • Adjust chemical dosing, aeration levels, and sludge recycling rates to optimize treatment efficiency.
  • Implement process improvements to enhance performance and reduce energy and chemical consumption.
  • Troubleshoot process upsets and take corrective actions promptly.

 Compliance & Environmental Management

  • Ensure the facility complies with all applicable environmental regulations and discharge standards.
  • Prepare and maintain compliance reports for regulatory authorities.
  • Support audits, inspections, and regulatory visits by providing accurate data and documentation.
  • Ensure proper disposal of sludge and other by-products in line with environmental guidelines.

Team Supervision & Leadership

  • Supervise plant operators, technicians, and support staff on a daily basis.
  • Assign duties, manage shift schedules, and ensure adequate staffing at all times.
  • Train and mentor staff on standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety practices, and technical processes.
  • Enforce discipline, accountability, and adherence to operational standards.

Maintenance & Asset Management

  • Coordinate routine preventive and corrective maintenance of pumps, blowers, valves, and other equipment.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify wear, faults, or potential breakdown risks.
  • Work closely with maintenance teams or external contractors for repairs and servicing.
  • Maintain an inventory of spare parts, tools, and consumables.

Health, Safety & Risk Management

  • Enforce strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies.
  • Ensure safe handling, storage, and application of chemicals used in treatment processes.
  • Conduct safety briefings and risk assessments for plant activities.
  • Report and investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, implementing corrective actions.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate daily logs of plant operations, chemical usage, maintenance activities, and incidents.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly performance reports.
  • Document process changes, operational challenges, and improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure proper record-keeping for audits and compliance verification.

 Stakeholder Coordination

  • Liaise with regulatory bodies, consultants, and management on operational and compliance matters.
  • Coordinate with laboratory personnel for testing and analysis of samples.
  • Support management in budgeting, procurement, and operational planning.

 Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction, efficiency improvement, and sustainability.
  • Stay updated on advancements in wastewater treatment technologies and practices.
  • Recommend upgrades or modifications to improve plant performance.
  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering, Water Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in wastewater/sewage treatment operations.
  • Hands-on experience in operating and supervising wastewater treatment systems.
  • Strong knowledge of wastewater/sewage treatment processes (biological, chemical, and physical treatment methods).
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Good leadership and team supervision skills.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to interpret technical data and operational reports.
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency (MS Office and reporting tools).
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental standards.
