Staff Nurse – Midwife Job Mater Misericordiae Hospital

Responsible for providing patient-centred nursing care, assessing patients, developing and evaluating care plans, administering treatments and medication, monitoring patient progress, supporting clinical procedures, and guiding nursing students and newly deployed staff. Requires a Diploma in KRCHN, KRN, or KRM, or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, registration with the Nursing Council of Kenya, a valid practising licence, and at least one year of post-qualification clinical experience. The position is based in Nairobi and requires on-site work.

Key Responsibilities

• Planning, providing, and evaluating nursing care to patients on their individual needs
• Ensuring patients’ nursing needs such as physical, psychological and mental needs are attended to
• Providing individually tailored care to patients
• Assisting patients to perform their ordinary daily activities.
• Monitoring record and report changes in patient’s symptoms.
• Maintaining accurate reports on patients.
• Assessing the needs of patients and planning for nursing care.
• Participating in ward rounds with medical and nursing personnel.
• Assisting medical staff in the examination and treatment of patients
• Assisting in clinical investigative procedures.
• Orienting and supervising new staff and students.
• Ensuring proper coordination and smooth running of the ward activities.
• Ensuring good communication with patients and other departments for continuity of patient care
• Maintaining a safe and clean working environment by adhering to set standards and procedures
• Ensuring that patients discharged from the wards take with them the prescribed drugs and discharge
• summaries and follow up on any scheduled appointments.
• Participating in quality improvement initiatives within the department and providing reports as required

Qualifications

• Diploma in KRCHN/KRN/M
• BSc Nursing
• Higher National Diploma in Midwifery
• Computer Proficiency.
• Registered with NCK with a valid practicing license.
• Minimum 1 year post qualification experience in midwifery Nursing.
