Lecturers – GIS & Remote Sensing Job RCMRD
Engineering Jobs, RCMRD Jobs. Responsible for teaching and mentoring students in geospatial and related programmes, preparing learning materials, conducting practical training, assessing students, supervising projects, supporting research activities, and contributing to curriculum development and academic programmes. Requires a relevant Master’s degree or higher in area of interest with relevant teaching or industry experience. The positions are based in Nairobi and require on-site work.
Qualifications
Applicants should hold at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Natural Resources Management, Geography, Ecology, Forestry, Disaster Management, Emergency Management, Geomatic Engineering, Geospatial Engineering, Surveying, Remote Sensing, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geoinformatics, Cartography, Computer Science, Information Technology, Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Artificial Intelligence, Geology, Hydrology, Public Health, Environmental Health, Epidemiology, Meteorology, Climate Science, Atmospheric Science, Geodesy, Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or any other relevant field.
Professional Experience
- Applicants should have a minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional and/or industryexperience in GIS, Remote Sensing, geospatial technologies, environmental management, disaster management, data science, engineering, or a related field.

- In addition to the academic qualifications, applicants should possess relevant professional certifications and/or demonstrate competency in areas including:
- Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA)
- Environmental Auditing and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS)
- Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation
- Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Humanitarian Response
- Emergency Preparedness and Incident Command Systems (ICS)
- Early Warning Systems, Risk Assessment and Vulnerability Mapping
- UAV Mapping and Drone Operations
- Digital Photogrammetry and LiDAR Processing
- Satellite Image Analysis and Remote Sensing
- ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, Google Earth Engine and spatial analysis
- Geospatial Data Management and Earth Observation Applications
- Python, R, ArcPy and GeoPandas
- Spatial Statistics, Machine Learning, Deep Learning and GeoAI
- Computer Vision and Earth Observation Analytics
- TensorFlow and PyTorch
- Cloud Computing and Big Data Analytics
- PostgreSQL/PostGIS, SQL Server and Oracle Spatial
- Enterprise GIS, Web GIS and GeoServer
- Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) and Database Administration
