Summary:

Duties and responsibilities will entail:

  • Providing leadership in the development and implementation of geothermal development strategies.
  • Developing policies and procedures to achieve geothermal development strategic objectives.
  • Coordinating and overseeing geoscientific exploration and resource assessment, reservoir and steam field management, utilization of geothermal resource, environment, safety and health, and well targeting and resource optimization.
  • Directing the process of identifying sites, targets, and parameters for drilling geothermal exploration, appraisal, production, and re injection wells.
  • Providing guidance on well measurements.
  • Providing leadership on resource assessment, development, and review of conceptual and reservoir models.
  • Providing leadership on geothermal resource utilization, steam field and reservoir monitoring and management.

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:

  • A minimum period of fifteen (15) years of work experience, five (5) years of which must in a Senior Management Role.
  • Master’s degree in any of the following disciplines: – Earth/Geological Sciences, Geothermal technology, relevant Engineering fields or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
  • Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: Earth/Geological Science, Chemical/Mechanical/Reservoir Engineering fields, or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Geothermal Energy Technology or an equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • Leadership course lasting not less four (4) weeks (cumulative).
  • Be a member of Geothermal Association of Kenya (GAK) or any relevant professional body/association.
  • Proficiency in computer applications.
  • Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
