Boreka Group is a climate agriculture and agroforestry organization working with smallholder farmers to build scalable, sustainable, and economically viable rural ecosystems through tree planting, regenerative agriculture, and livelihood systems.
Key Responsibilities
HEALTH, SAFETY & RISK MANAGEMENT
- Lead EHS systems for Solar PV construction and operations.
- Conduct HIRA, JSA, site inspections and incident investigations.
- Develop emergency response plans for electrical incidents, grid failures, extreme weather and wildlife encounters.
- Manage electrical safety, arc flash mitigation, lockout, and emergency dryings.
ENVIRONMENTAL & BIODIVERSITY COMPLIANCE
- Oversee environmental safeguards during planning, construction and operations.
- Manage land-clearing protocols, soil erosion control, habitat protection and ecological restoration.
- Ensure Solar PV infrastructure protects microclimates and clean up the environment.
- Ensure compliance with EIA, EA and environmental permits.
STANDARDS, GOVERNANCE & REPORTING
- Ensure compliance with national regulations, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, World Bank ops and IFCPS6.
- Lead audits, reporting, corrective actions and regulatory submissions.
- Drive continual improvement of EHS management systems.
COMMUNITY & STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT
- Facilitate workshops that align safety metrics with community engagement.
- Promote awareness and capacity building for employees, contractors and local communities.
- Builds partnerships for biodiversity conservation and sustainable development.
Qualifiations
- Bachelor’s Degree required in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety (OSH), Environmental Engineering, Ecology, or Natural Resource Management.
- Master’s Degree: Highly preferred in Conservation Biology, Environmental Governance, Renewable Energy Management, or Occupational Safety and Health.
Experience
- Overall Experience: A minimum of 8 years of professional experience in EHS management, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Solar PV Sector Experience: Proven track record overseeing utility-scale or commercial/industrial (C&I) Solar PV construction and operations, focusing on electrical hazard management, arc flash mitigation, and working at heights.
- Conservation & Restoration Experience: Direct experience managing environmental footprints within sensitive ecosystems, agroforestry layouts, or biodiversity hotspots.
