Job Purpose/Mission

The Warehouse & Import Logistics Officer will support both warehouse operations and import logistics activities at Ignite Energy Access. The role is responsible for ensuring efficient receiving, storage, inventory control, and dispatch of goods, as well as supporting import coordination, shipment tracking, and clearance processes to ensure products are available on time for operations. The Warehouse Officer will work within the Operations Team and report directly to the Warehouse Manager.

Warehouse Operations

  • Support internal stock ordering and issuance processes, ensuring all warehouse systems and tools are up to date.
  • Receive, inspect, and accurately record all incoming goods.
  • Manage inventory levels, conduct regular stock counts, and reconcile discrepancies in coordination with the Supply Chain Team.
  • Organize warehouse storage to ensure efficient space utilization and safe handling of products.
  • Prepare, pick, pack, and coordinate the dispatch of products to various locations in line with delivery schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards within the warehouse.

Import Logistics & Coordination

  • Monitor and report on planned shipments and containers in coordination with the Supply Chain Team and overseas suppliers.
  • Track shipments in transit and clearing in close collaboration with clearing agents.
  • Ensure all import documentation is received on time and complies with customs regulations.
  • Support coordination with finance and clearing agents for payment of duties, levies, and related charges.
  • Liaise with customs authorities and other relevant agencies to resolve day-to-day import-related issues.
  • Ensure that all shipments are covered by valid insurance.
  • Support the selection and coordination of external logistics service providers, including freight forwarders and transporters.

Experience:

  • At least 3 years’ experience in warehouse operations, preferably in logistics, supply chain, or related industries.
  • Knowledge of warehouse management systems and inventory tracking techniques.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Kenyan Import Industry especially regarding Renewable Energy products
  • Technical knowledge of solar energy products to identify correct applicable HS codes
  • Advanced knowledge in MS office required (especially Excel/Word)
  • Ability to work independently and in a multicultural environment
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and warehouse best practices.
  • Established connections and contacts within the Import Logistics Industry is a plus
  • Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations or related field.
  • Language(s)
    Excellent verbal and written communication in:
    English
    Kiswahili
