Summary: Technical Lead Operator role at TakaTaka Solutions in Kiambu, overseeing recycling machinery operations, maintenance, and team supervision. Requires a Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with proven experience as a machine operator in a recycling or industrial setting. Full-time, on-site role.

  • Operate and oversee the operation of recycling machinery, such as balers, shredders, conveyors, and sorting equipment.
  • Monitor equipment performance and intervene promptly in case of malfunctions or breakdowns.
  • Conduct routine inspections to identify and address maintenance needs.
  • Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure the production of high-quality recycled materials.
  • Inspect incoming materials and outgoing products for conformity to standards.
  • Collaborate with quality control personnel to address any issues and improve processes.
  • Supervise but also if schedule allows,  do regular preventative maintenance of the machinery 
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions while coordinating repairs as needed.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment performance.
  • Enforce and promote a culture of safety in the workplace.
  • Keep the workplace clean
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and training sessions for machine operators.
  • Investigate and report accidents or incidents promptly, implementing corrective actions.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments.
  • Report and update production metrics, equipment status, and any issues to the relevant parties.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to improve overall plant efficiency and effectiveness.  
  • Lead, train, and supervise a team of assistant operators.
  • Motivate and support the team to achieve production goals and targets.
  • Production Planning:
  • Work with the Recycling Plant Manager and Recycling Plant Supervisor to develop production schedules and plans.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure a smooth flow of materials through the production process.
  • Make adjustments to production schedules in consultation with the Recycling Plant manager and Supervisor based on changing priorities or unforeseen circumstances.
  • Analyze and improve existing processes.
  • Implement process control systems.
  • Work with the engineering team for new equipment design and installation.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting (Use data for decision-making and process enhancements.)
  • Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering,
  • Proven experience as a machine operator in a recycling or similar industrial setting.
  • Having operated an industrial production machine before with at least 3 process steps that required controlling of specific parameters such as temperature, pressure, speed.
