Systems Librarian /Grade 13 Job KU

  • Must have a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Sciences or any other related field.
  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Library and Information science with a specialization in Information Technology or a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Bachelor of Information Technology.
  • At least two years working experience as a Systems Librarian preferably in an academic institution set up.
  • Be conversant with Library Management systems such as KOHA and DSpace.
  • Systems administration competency in Windows and Linux/Unix operating systems as well as server management.
  • Knowledge of the applications of computer technology to library operation and e-library services.
  • Familiarity with standards appropriate to library applications such as MARC21 (machine readable cataloguing), HTML, Z39.50, etc
  • Have skills in databases, network administration and website authoring tools.
  • Proficiency in scripting and programming skills e.g. python, Javascript, etc.
