Looking for a project management job in Kenya? Great Plains Conservation is hiring a Sustainability Officer to support sustainability initiatives, monitor environmental programs, and promote responsible conservation practices. EXperience in environmental management is required.

The Sustainability Officer will lead the implementation of sustainability initiatives across our Kenya operations, working closely with operational teams to embed sustainable practices, reduce our environmental footprint, and help conserve the wildlife and natural habitats that are central to our ecotourism experience.

  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of our sustainability strategy.
  • Develop and implement sustainability procedures and action plans across our Camps/Lodges.
  • Train staff on sustainability standards and best practices.
  • Identify opportunities to improve waste management, water conservation, renewable energy and other sustainability initiatives.
  • Monitor sustainability performance, analyse data, and prepare monthly reports and improvement plans.
  • Coordinate sustainability certifications and ensure compliance with required standards.
  • Manage sustainability projects and budgets while working closely with Operations, Finance, and Project teams.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve sustainability goals.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Human Geography, or a related field.
  • 2–3 years’ experience in sustainability, environmental management, or ESG.
  • Experience implementing sustainability initiatives within an organisation.
  • Strong analytical, reporting, and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across multiple teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • A genuine passion for environmental conservation and sustainable tourism.
  • Willingness to travel regularly to Camps/Lodges.
