Person Specifications

(Education, Experience & Competencies) 

  • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Physics, Astronomy, Astrophysics, Aeronautical/Aerospace, Remote Sensing, Geographical Information Science, Geo-Spatial Engineering, Surveying, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, Control and Instrumentation, or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  • Proficiency in computer applications.
  • Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implementing and reviewing policies, strategies, standards, and guidelines for space surveillance;
  • Monitoring and evaluating space science and technology programs, ensuring compliance with regulations;
  • Conducting initial assessments of non-compliance cases and preparing preliminary reports on findings;
  • Monitoring compliance with international conventions, treaties, and agreements, reporting on discrepancies or issues;
  • Evaluating space activities and data for compliance with relevant standards, codes, and specifications;
  • Monitoring space-derived data, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and credibility of data used for decision-making;
  • Undertaking environmental, health, safety, and quality standards compliance in space activities;
  • Generating records for complaints or disputes between stakeholders, escalating complex cases as needed;
  • Mapping non-compliant cases in space activities, collaborating with relevant stakeholders to address issues;
  • Contributing to the coordination of risk management processes related to space surveillance issues; and
  • Coordinating capacity-building initiatives and knowledge management within the space surveillance sector.
