Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:

• Be a Citizen of Kenya;
• Served in the grade of Sports Officer for a minimum period of three (3) years;
• Bachelor’s degree in any of the following discipline: Physical Education, Sports Science or Leisure and Recreation Management from a recognized institution;

OR

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences with a Post-Graduate Diploma in Sports Administration and Management lasting not less than two (2) years or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
• Certificate in Computer Applications from a recognized institution; and
• Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Identifying and developing sports talent;
• Preparing teams for sports competitions;
• Advising on use and development of local sports facilities and equipment;
• Liaising with Sports Federations in organizing and officiating sports competitions;
• Preparing reports on sports programmes;
• Coordinate training for coaches, referees, trainers, umpires, team managers, team doctors and federation officials; and
• Coordinate maintenance of inventory of sports tools, equipment and facilities.
