Purpose of the Job

To direct and control daily operations in the Branch/satellite office, ensuring that the Branch/satellite office Operations Unit is run effectively and efficiently in the spirit of quality service and risk management

Duties and Responsibilities

Operational Roles and Responsibilities

• Centrally manage the teller services and the operations function of the customer services
• Support the Branch Manager in rolling out new policies and guidelines relating to operations for both Branch operations
• Participate in budgetary and forward planning systems and process including annual, quarterly and ad hoc budgets
• Liaise with internal and external auditors and respond to queries, observations and recommendations
• Assist the Branch Manager in keeping operating expenses and head count of the section under control and within the agreed budget level.
• Streamline and improve current procedures and processes at the branch level and ensure workflow
• Approval of cash withdrawals and cheque deposits
• Approval of membership, ATM and M-Sacco
• Ensure timely application, collection, issuance and activation of ATM cards and PINS
• Ensure timely application and activation of M-Sacco, verify M-Sacco applications
• Ensure timely registration of new members
• Responsible for cascading the right quality service standards and monitoring performance of the team to ensure high quality customer service is provided.
• Assist the Branch Manager to interpret statistical information relating to the performance of the Branch and ensures remedial action is taken to keep performance in line with business objectives
• Support the Branch Manager to motivate and train staff to ensure performance is
• optimized, and level of staff competency is continuously upgraded
• Supervise the tellers and monitor reports and operations from the Branch’s Treasury, coordinate cash in transit service, investigate cash variances and ensure timely resolution.
• Supervise the Customer Care Officer and ensure that customer care standards of the Society are adhered to

Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time

Job Specifications

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance, Marketing or Equivalent
• Membership in a professional body

Minimum Experience Required

• 5 years’ work experience in a similar set up
