Qualifications

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must;

• Have a Bachelor of laws (LL. B) degree from a recognized university;
• Have Post admission experience of 5 years and above;
• Be an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya;
• Be a member of the Law Society of Kenya and in good standing.
• Have a Valid Practicing License;
• Be Conversant with operations of the County Government and applicable laws; and
• Have demonstrated professional competence in work performance and results.

Key Responsibilities

• Receiving and processing cases filed against the County Executive;
• carrying out inquiries on the received cases;
• compiling and analysing the cases for decision making;
• implementing strategies and guidelines on handling of the cases, updating and maintaining a case database;
• Liaising with the relevant County Departments on cases filed against the County Executive;
• Preparing bi-annual and other reports on cases filed against the County Executive;
• Ensuring compliance with the policy, legal requirements and provisions in all the undertakings of the County Executive so as to safeguard the interest of the County on all legal matters;
• Representing the County Executive in litigation and other legal matters;
• Preparing legal documents and instruments, legal opinions, legal briefs, leases, contracts and memoranda of understanding for the County
• Executive;
• Conducting legal research on pending case files;
• undertaking research on specific legal matters and emerging trends and coming up with opinion to facilitate the justice process;
• Identifying issues and areas for policy formulation and review;
• Recommending alternative dispute resolution mechanisms in addressing legal matters;
• Supervising junior legal counsel and other subordinate staff in the Office of the County Attorney;
• Any other duty as may be assigned by the County Attorney from time to time
