Duties and responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities entail:-

• Writing and testing computer programs;
• Verifying, enhancing and testing computer programs;
• Providing user support;
• Monitoring performance and Implementing preventive maintenance of servers and other ICT equipment;
• Maintain an up-to-date ICT inventory and asset management register;

Job Specification            

Requirements for appointment

For appointment to this grade an officer must have: –

• Cumulative service period of six (6) years’ three (3) of which must be at the grade of ICT Officer or in a comparable position;
• Degree in any of the following fields: Computer Science, Information Technology or other relevant and equivalent qualifications from a recognized Institution;
• Relevant professional certification. in any of the following fields:
  • Systems AND Server Administration technical certifications such as MCSA, MCSE, COMPTIA;

OR

• Programming, Database and System Deployment technical certifications such as MCSD, SQL, AWS, Oracle;

OR

• Networking technical certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, HCNA, HCNP

OR

• Security and data protection technical certifications such as CISM, CISA, ethical hacking

OR

• Project management technical certifications such as PMP; PRINCE2;
• Experience with ICT project management and implementation;
• Proven experience in ICT support and administration, with a strong technical background in IT systems and networks;
• Familiarity with ICT procurement processes and vendor management;
• Membership in ISACA or a relevant professional body;
• Solid understanding of network protocols, security principles and best practices; and
• Knowledge of cyber security threats and counter measures with experience implementing security controls and measures.
