Senior Associate Systems Administrator Job I&M Bank
The Senior Associate Systems Administrator is responsible for managing, maintaining, and supporting the Bank’s IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, storage, and operating systems. The role provides guidance and mentorship to junior administrators and acts as an escalation point for operational issues. The overall objective of this role is to maintain high availability of the ICT infrastructure through timely problem resolution, proactive system monitoring, disciplined execution of operational routines, and continuous improvement of systems management practices.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Manage the configuration, maintenance, and reliable operation of servers, network infrastructure, and virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V).
- Deploy operating system patches, upgrades, and administrative tools on a scheduled basis, and configure new services as required to maintain effective service delivery.
- Maintain capacity and storage planning processes, monitoring resource utilization trends and proactively addressing constraints.
- Maintain detailed inventory and asset configuration documentation, including system configurations, processes, and procedures, in accordance with ICT guidelines and standards.
- Manage enterprise backup solutions, ensuring data integrity and that recovery processes meet defined recovery time and point objectives.
- Implement and maintain processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures.
- Manage server availability and service recovery to ensure incidents and problems are addressed in accordance with defined policies, procedures, and SLA commitments.
- Configure, enforce, and maintain logical and physical access controls in line with organizational information security policies.
- Automate repeatable security-related tasks to reduce manual effort and improve consistency of controls.
- Provide Level 1 and Level 2 technical support to end users, diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and networking issues promptly, while independently managing and resolving assigned tickets, delivering root-cause solutions and minimizing repeat incidents.
- Collaborate with users and cross-functional teams to plan and implement updates, upgrades, and patches in a timely, controlled manner, and lead or supervise OEM support personnel engagements and vendor interactions as required.
- Act as a technical escalation point for junior administrators, providing day-to-day mentorship and knowledge sharing, supporting their technical growth and adherence to operational best practices and providing guidance on complex or unresolved issues.
- Work with cross-functional teams to support application deployments, infrastructure projects, system integrations, and contribute to the planning and execution of infrastructure improvement initiatives, capacity upgrades, and technology refresh projects.
- Identify opportunities to automate and streamline operational tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual workload.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology/Systems, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience in IT infrastructure support, with demonstrated experience in server administration, virtualization, and enterprise-level environments.
- Certifications including MCSA, MCSE, or AZ-104 (Azure Administrator), AWS Solutions Architect, RHCSA, RHCE, or CompTIA Linux+, CCNA or equivalent networking certification, VCP-DCV or equivalent virtualization certifications provide an added advantage.
- ITIL Foundation certification (advantageous).
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with Windows Server and Linux/Unix operating environments, including administration, hardening, and troubleshooting.
- Hands-on experience with server virtualization platforms (VMware, Microsoft etc.).
- Familiarity with container technologies such as Docker and/or Kubernetes.
- Working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCS) including compute, storage, and networking services.
- Microsoft 365 administration & support, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and associated services.
- Working experience with enterprise-grade storage systems and backup solutions, knowledge of data protection strategies, replication, and disaster recovery architecture.
- Basic working knowledge of database systems including SQL Server, MySQL, and/or Oracle for infrastructure support purposes.
- Ability to support application deployments and integrations from an infrastructure perspective.
- Experience with infrastructure and performance monitoring tools.
- Ability to identify, assess, and support remediation of security vulnerabilities across server and network environments.
