Our client is a leading distributor of chemicals across emerging markets and actively trades several other commodities like steel, polymers, and many more. They are looking to hire a Sales and Sourcing Specialist responsible for selling chemical products and sourcing them from reliable suppliers, ensuring competitive pricing, consistent supply, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards while meeting customer needs and business targets.

  • Analytical approach to pricing and procurement:
  • Understanding economic factors affecting the demand and supply of commodities.
  • Understanding cost structures and import requirements for EA region.
  • Analyzing import and market data for EA region
  • Familiarity with demand planning/forecasting based on seasonality and other micro/macro factors
  • Offer calculations and supply chain optimisation:
  • Understanding pricing models based on incoterms
  • Understanding the full end to end supply chain with various stakeholders for documentational purposes
  • Familiar with transit logistics/ export orders to the EA region
  • Ability to coordinate and relay key information on Goods In Transit
  • Good know how on value addition/ optimization strategies
  • Commercial and documentational support:
  • Close collaboration with the sales team to understand market dynamics
  • Understanding KEBS requirements in terms of standards, certifications and licensing
  • Ability to compile relevant documents for applications/tenders/renewals
  • Degree in Business, finance, or Supply Chain Management: A strong foundation in economic principles and business practices.
  • 3 years of Sales and Sourcing Experience
  • Strong understanding of imports, logistics, and end-to-end supply chain processes, especially within the East Africa region
  • Proficiency in Data Analysis Tools: Experience with software like Excel, Power BI, or similar for data manipulation and visualization.
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Basic understanding of the distribution industry -> animal nutrition is a plus
  • Strong Communication, Interpersonal and Customer Development Skills
  • Product Development Insights: Experience in identifying opportunities for new product development based on market insights.
