Sales Representative – FMCG Job (35-45K)

The Sales Representative will be responsible for driving sales and distribution of the company’s maize flour products and detergents within an assigned territory. The role involves developing and maintaining relationships with retailers, wholesalers, distributors, institutions, and other customers to achieve sales targets, increase market penetration, and strengthen brand visibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Achieve and exceed assigned monthly and quarterly sales targets for maize flour products and detergents.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities within the assigned territory.
- Visit and maintain regular contact with retailers, wholesalers, distributors, supermarkets, shops, institutions, and other potential customers.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective customers.
- Generate orders and ensure timely follow-up on customer requirements.
- Ensure products are adequately stocked and properly displayed at customer outlets.
- Monitor market availability, pricing, promotions, competitor activities, and customer preferences.
- Identify opportunities to increase product distribution and market share.
- Implement company sales and promotional activities within the assigned territory.
- Negotiate orders and commercial terms within approved company guidelines.
- Follow up on customer payments and outstanding accounts where applicable.
- Coordinate with distributors, delivery teams, and internal departments to ensure smooth order fulfilment.
- Maintain accurate records of customer visits, orders, sales performance, and market intelligence.
- Prepare regular sales reports and provide feedback on market trends and customer needs.
- Handle customer enquiries, complaints, and feedback professionally and promptly.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, sales procedures, and food safety/quality requirements.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Sales Supervisor.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Sales, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 2–3 years of experience in FMCG sales, preferably in maize flour and detergents.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
- Experience working with wholesalers, retailers, distributors, supermarkets, and general trade outlets.
- Knowledge of the local market and distribution channels will be an added advantage.
- A valid driving licence and experience riding a motorcycle/driving a vehicle may be required depending on the territory.
