Refrigeration Technician at Farmer’s Choice
Refrigeration Technician role at Farmer’s Choice. Responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting refrigeration and cooling systems. Requires a relevant refrigeration or mechanical qualification and practical technical experience. The role is based in Nairobi with duties performed on-site.
Job Summary:
Provide reliable, timely, and hands-on refrigeration and HVAC maintenance support, ensuring continuous availability, optimal performance, and cold-chain reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond to refrigeration and HVAC breakdowns and restore systems promptly.
- Diagnose faults using systematic troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
- Maintain chillers, compressors, condensers, evaporators, cold rooms, and freezers.
- Repair controls, sensors, pressure systems, valves, pumps, and mechanical components.
- Execute planned preventive maintenance and document all work.
- Monitor pressures, temperatures, oil, and refrigerant levels.
- Recommend permanent corrective actions for recurring failures.
- Support emergency interventions to protect product integrity.
Key Competencies:
- Industrial refrigeration and HVAC troubleshooting.
- Preventive and predictive maintenance.
- Refrigerant charging, recovery, and leak detection.
- Strong root-cause analysis and problem-solving.
- Safety, food safety, and energy-efficiency awareness.
- Teamwork, professionalism, and clear communication.
- Ability to support a 24-hour production environment.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, HVAC Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 8 years’ relevant industrial refrigeration and HVAC maintenance experience.
- Proven FMCG, food-processing, or manufacturing experience.
